Oceana, World Oceans Day
 
 
 

The recent oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico is the latest tragic reminder of the fragility and importance of our oceans. This is an excellent time to recognize the work being done by Oceana, the largest international organization focused solely on ocean conservation. Founded in 2001, Oceana is instrumental in the enactment of policies that protect marine life and habitats.

In conjunction with World Ocean Day on June 8, Oceana has launched “Be an Ocean Hero” to promote its efforts in restoring the health and abundance of the oceans. The campaign will raise $100,000 by World Oceans Day on June 8, and your participation is easy. To be an ocean hero, simply pledge to help protect the oceans, and an anonymous donor will give $1 for every pledge made. Please take the time to “Be an Ocean Hero” and help us contribute to the health of the world’s oceans.

At Idea Hall we’re doing our part to pitch in as well by partnering with Oceana and La Mer cosmetics to host a fundraiser at Saks Fifth Avenue, South Coast Plaza, on Friday June 4, from 11:00 – 2:00 p.m. Guests will enjoy signature La Mer treatments and a portion of all purchases will benefit Oceana.
